The dog's name is Daniel D. Dog, MD. He's and English setter with a background in thoracic surgery and a masters degree in criminal justice.
The show focuses not only on his crime-fighting and life-saving abilities, but on the toll that all this activity takes on Dr. Dog, who must balance his hectic schedule as an ER doctor and an NYPD detective with his home life as a husband and father of three pups, all the while being a faithful watchdog for his human family and their accident-prone son Timmy.
